Abstract

The effectiveness of occlusal splint treatment in treating temporomandibular joint issues is examined in this case study. The term "TMDs" refers to a group of intricate disorders with a variety of etiologies that frequently call for multimodal therapy strategies. By using a case study methodology, occlusal splint treatment was used to treat a male patient, age 27, who had symptoms of TMD, including pain in the head, neck, and shoulder. After splint therapy, a clinical examination and radiographic interpretation showed considerable changes, including decreased pain frequency, better jaw function, and radiographic evidence of altered joint spaces. The difficulties in diagnosing and treating TMDs are discussed, as well as the function of occlusal splint therapy in symptom management. This instance highlights the possibility of splint design as a useful conservative therapy approach for TMDs, despite contradictory studies on its effectiveness.
