Abstract

The novel coronavirus or severe acute respiratory coronavirus syndrome 2 was acausative agent of acute respiratory disease that resulted in an unexpected outbreak inChina in December 2019. Protocols for the provision of dental treatment during theCOVID-19 pandemic were created after analysis of the severity of the COVID-19pandemic and were focused on grouping patients by diagnosis and need, andconsidering interventions by risk and benefit. The purpose of this article is to commenton the emergence, epidemiology, threats and to safeguard orthodontists during thispandemic crisis. It is hoped that the recommendations proposed in this work wouldcontinue to manage dental treatment around the world before and after this pandemic.
