Abstract

Objective: To review and compile literature to check the post retention stability of skeletal open bite correction by molar intrusion.
Search Method: Articles were searched in Electronic database of English literature i.e. PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase and google scholar.
Search Criteria: Titles and abstracts of potential articles with inclusion criteria were examined and included based on consensus agreement.
Data Collection and Analysis: Abstracts of articles having characteristics that were uncertain were examined, with full article retrieval if necessary. The reference list of the retrieved articles were also searched.
Result: On comparing the mean post treatment and post retention of overbite derived from their respected forest plot graphs, there was 32 percent relapse in the overbite correction.
Conclusion: This study states that skeletal open bite patients treated with molar intrusion have 68 % stability, whereas the intruded molar have a 95% stability.
